Take initiative
There is a theme to what I have heard in the recent months from many of my clients: they have no time for anything because they spend hours and hours in meetings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is often no clear agenda. People come unprepared. Some disappear in the middle of the sentence (to make themselves coffee because they had no break); some have to jump on another call twenty minutes into the meeting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many meetings stretch from early morning to late-night hours because everyone is at home anyway. No one seems to cares in what time zone the participants are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you feel like you have also fallen into this trap? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How about doing something about it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often it is all about how we define and communicate our boundaries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of my clients encouraged to speak up addressed the issue of scheduling meetings after 8 pm by her boss. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She explained she had also other responsibilities and needed the evening time, so cannot participate in calls in the evenings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She was surprised that the boss adjusted the schedule immediately and even more by the fact that many others thought the same and had never mentioned it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be a leader. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take initiative.
