Guard your time

Many of us work from home now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I observe that many leaders have a hard time with it as their private life ceased to exist either because ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) they attend multiple meetings scheduled outside of their working hours or ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) meetings fill up all day and the real work must be done after office hours. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Work takes more and more time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because it is possible to meet online around the clock, it does not mean that you have to work from dawn to late at night. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I bet your boss never asked you to do that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So why is it so difficult to draw the line? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you once rejected a meeting scheduled outside your normal working hours? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or asked your peers to respect your private life? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or questioned the sense of some check-in meetings? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Setting boundaries around your time is not the easiest thing to do, but nobody will do it for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So check in with yourself:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ When do you need to create space for deep work?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ When do you need to start and finish your work?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ How can you keep reign over your time?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ With whom might you need to have this difficult conversation?
